Laurence Payot was born in Metz, France, and currently lives in Liverpool, England. She graduated from the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Lyon.

Her work takes on various and unexpected forms, immerging itself in the context in which it is produced, often based in the public realm. The few observers who 'notice' the work are placed in front of a dilemma, where the everyday and the staged are merging to create new ways of perceiving objects and phenomenon that surround us.

Over the last few years, she received two Arts Council England Awards for the production of two public works, she was selected to represent Liverpool Biennial of Contemporary Art during a residency in Libya with the British Council, and she directed The Royal Standard, a gallery and studios spaces in Liverpool. Her recent pieces where commissioned by galleries, museums, and festivals, including the Bluecoat Art Centre in Liverpool, TATE Modern in London, and the Belluard Bollwerk International in Fribourg.

Laurence Payot est une artiste originaire de Metz. Diplômée de l'Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Lyon, elle vit et travaille maintenant à Liverpool (Angleterre).

Ses oeuvres prennent des formes variées et inattendues, s'immergeant dans le contexte dans lequel elles se développent, souvent hors les murs des institutions. Les quelques observateurs qui 'découvrent' le travail se trouvent devant un dilemme, où le quotidien et la mise en scène se côtoient pour créer de nouvelles manières de percevoir les objets et phénomènes qui nous entourent.

 Au cours de ces dernières années, Laurence Payot a reçu deux prix du Ministère le la Culture Anglaise pour la réalisation d' œuvres publiques, représenté  la Biennale d'Art Contemporain de Liverpool lors d'une résidence d'artiste en Libye avec le British Council, et dirigé The Royal Standard, une galerie indépendante et ateliers d'artistes. Ses œuvres les plus récentes ont été crées en collaboration avec galeries, musées et festivals, notamment le Bluecoat Art Centre à Liverpool, la Tate Modern à Londres, et le Belluard Bollwerk International Festival à Fribourg.
